Dr. Jerry K. “Buddy” Bilbrey, Jr. is the Associate Dean and Director of MBA for the College of Business.  He started his work life in a steel fabrication factory in Portland, TN.  After about 5 years, he realized that he desired the type of life that a college education afforded.  So, he attended Tennessee Technological University and received a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering.  After working for about 2 years in industry, he then pursued and obtained a masters degree at the University of South Carolina.  He enjoyed the learning environment and went on to get a Ph.D. at the University of Louisville.  He believes that education adds quality to one's life and encourages all to pursue their dreams.   He has been teaching full-time at the college level since 2002 at several institutions including Troy University and Francis Marion University.

His research interests lie in the fields of optimization, statistical analysis modeling, and financial engineering.  He has peer-reviewed publications in the International Journal of Management, the Journal of Business and Behavioral Sciences, and the International Journal of Business and Behavioral Sciences.  Additionally, he currently has submitted two other articles for publication that are currently under review.  He has found that the learning process has been greatly extended through the process of research and has been able to take much of his experience into the classroom.
