Evening/Online Financial Aid
Thank you for your interest in the ACCEL Evening/Online Programs at Anderson University. ACCEL students are eligible to receive federal and state funds. For consideration of these funds, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by June 30th of each year. You can complete the FAFSA at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov; or go to http://www.ed.gov; for more information. Click http://www.finaid.ucsb.edu/fafsasimplification for a video tutorial. All ACCEL students receive a tuition discount, which makes them ineligible for institutional scholarships. The information below shows the various types of funds available to ACCEL students. You can also use our ACCEL Cost Worksheet to calculate your estimated cost to attend.
Pell Grant: A federally funded grant based on need determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Awards are based on the EFC as determined by the FAFSA as well as the amount of hours the student enrolls. Maximum award is $5,550 per year.
Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG): A federally funded source of gift aid awarded to students with the most need. Funding is very limited and the Financial Aid Office makes award selections. Maximum award $1,000 per year.
Perkins Loan: A federally funded program that is offered to students who demonstrate great need. Students must have at least 2.0 cumulative GPA. Since funding is limited, not all qualified students can be offered this loan. Repayment (at least $40 per month) and interest (at 5%) are deferred until 9 months after the student ceases to be enrolled on at least a half-time basis at any institution. Maximum award is $4,000 per year.
Stafford Loan: There are two types of Federal Stafford Loans - subsidized and unsubsidized. Subsidized loans are need based and eligibility is determined upon receipt of the FAFSA application. Interest on subsidized loans is paid by the government until after graduation or upon falling below half time enrollment. Unsubsidized loans accrue interest from the point of disbursement. We encourage our students to pay the interest while they are in school. There are no penalties for early payments on your loan. Repayment begins six months after the student ceases to be enrolled at least half time. Students who enroll at least half-time (6 hours), file the FAFSA, and are not currently in default on another student loan may qualify, regardless of their credit. Maximum amounts are determined by grade level. Amounts can range from $3,500 to $12,500 per year.
South Caroline State Funds
Palmetto LIFE Scholarship: Eligible South Carolina residents must have two of the three: 1) a 3.0 grade point average (State Uniform Grading Scale), 2) 1100 SAT or 24 ACT composite score, or 3) top 30% of high school class in order to receive this scholarship. Students can gain eligibility at Anderson University with an average of 30 hours per academic year (Fall, Spring, and Summer Terms) and a 3.0 cumulative (Collegiate) GPA. To maintain eligibility, an Anderson University student must maintain a 3.0 (Collegiate) GPA and an average of 30 earned hours per academic year (Fall, Spring, and Summer Terms). Current award amount is $5000 per year.
Palmetto HOPE Scholarship: Awarded to South Carolina residents who are true freshman students enrolled full time and have a 3.0 GPA, but do not meet the other criteria mentioned above for the LIFE Scholarship. This is true freshman year award only. Current award amount $2,800 per year.
SC State Tuition Grant: Funds are awarded to eligible South Carolina residents who attend full-time. The State Grant agency determines eligibility through the Free Application for Federal student Aid (FAFSA) and assumes that applicants have met the State Grant requirements for satisfactory academic progress. Returning students must have earned 24 credit hours during their last year of full time enrollment or 80% of all previous part-time hours attempted. The Federal Processor must receive the FAFSA by June 30th of each year to be considered for the State Grant. Maximum amount is $1,080 for the upcoming 12-13 academic year.
Company Reimbursement: Many organizations offer their employees full or partial tuition reimbursement for furthering their education. Please check with your Human Resources Department to see if your organization participates. Contact our Financial Aid Planning Office for more information about how this works at Anderson.
Students who are receiving Company Reimbursement through their employer will need to coordinate with their employer for reimbursement on their tuition expenses incurred for each term or semester. Even if your company is reimbursing you for your tuition and fees you will still need to satisfy your balance prior to start of each term or semester. You may either pay the balance in full by the start of each term or complete the FAFSA in order to borrow Federal student loans. Some documents will be required to be completed for these loan funds. For more information please contact the Financial Aid Planning Office at email@example.com or 864-231-2070.
Veteran Benefits: Anderson University is proud to partner with the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs in assisting our military veterans in obtaining their education. Check out our Veteran Benefits flier to learn how the process works. You can also contact our VA Certifying Official at firstname.lastname@example.org or 864-231-5742.
Special Circumstances: If your financial situation has changed, or you have experienced unusual cirumstances, you can inform us by completing the Special Circumstances Form. Completing this form does not guarantee additional funding, but it does allow our Financial Aid Planning Office to better understand your situation and distribute your financial aid more appropriately.
Tuition cost is determined by the number of credit hours you take. The 2014-15 cost per credit hour for ACCEL students is $391. A student that attends all five sessions full time (taking 30 credit hours total) will have tuition cost of $11,730 for 2014-15. Additional fees and book charges will accompany your tuition, and will vary based on your courses. Please see the attached Cost Sheet for a detailed tuition and fee breakdown.
The disbursement of aid for students in the ACCEL program is unique and dependent upon your individual schedule and enrollment in various terms throughout the year. Please review the attached FAQ for ACCEL students for more information on the timing of aid disbursement as well as our refund policy. Please contact the Office of Financial Aid Planning if you have further questions at email@example.com.
