Scholarships

Anderson University offers a generous program of competitive scholarships and financial aid. Anderson University has been recognized as one of the most affordable universities in the South. Recently, Anderson ranked among the top 11 universities in the South (public and private) for students accumulating the least educational debt. For the 2012-2013 academic year, 99 percent of students received financial aid, with an average award of $23,557. Institutional Research and Evaluation has recognized AU as one of "America's 100 Best College Buys" for academic quality, value and affordability, for the past six years.

To apply for financial aid, complete and mail the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). For a list of what you'll need to file, click here. Scholarships for Fall 2014 First-Time Freshmen

Anderson University Grant

  • Awarded to any entering freshmen not receiving a President's, Founder's or Provost's Scholarship

Out-of-State Grant

  • Awarded to any out-of-state entering freshman

$3,000 per year

Gold Grant

  • Need-Based grant
  • FAFSA required

$1,000 per year

Ministry Vocational Scholarship

  • Awarded to any qualifying entering first-time freshman or transfer in the College of Christian Studies and pursuing a call to ministry
  • Must complete application
  • Contact the College of Christian Studies for application and requirements

Scholarships and Financial Aid for Fall 2014 Entering Students in Campus Housing

AU Residential Grant

  • Offered to all entering first-time freshmen students who reside in campus housing.

$1,500 per year

First Choice Scholarship

  • Applicants must be first-time freshmen and reside in campus housing
  • Minimum 3.25 high school GPA and 1000+ SAT or 21+ ACT required for scholarship consideration.
  • Deadline to submit application and required materials — February 1st
  • Contact the Admission Office for scholarship application and information

$500 - $3,000 per year

Boys and Girls State Scholarship

  • Awarded to any first-time entering freshmen or transfer. Must reside in campus housing.
  • Must be named a Boys or Girls State citizen

$1,000 per year

Palmetto Boys State Presidential Scholarship

  • Anderson University is privileged to serve as the host site for the annual Palmetto Boys State event. In recognition of this special partnership, Anderson University has committed one $10,000 per year Palmetto Boys State Presidential Scholarship to be awarded each year. In order to be considered, applicants must be named a Palmetto Boys State Citizen, submit the required application, participate in the scholarship interview event, and reside in campus housing.

College Scholarships

Limited scholarships are available for first-time freshmen and transfer students in select majors. Scholarships are competitive and are limited in quantity. These include the following colleges or schools:

  • School of Interior Design – Awards vary. Contact Anne Martin, Dean of the School of Interior Design (amartin@andersonuniversity.edu) for scholarship requirements and application.
  • The South Carolina School of the Arts Scholarship Competitions
    • Music – awards vary; audition required for admission to the Music program and for scholarship consideration
    • Theatre – awards vary; audition required for admission to the Theatre program and for scholarship consideration
    • Visual Arts – awards vary; portfolio review required for scholarship consideration only

    • Mosaic Music Ministry Team Scholarship
      • Performance-based; application and audition required

Please Note

Completion of the FAFSA required to receive AU scholarships and grants. Awards are renewable for up to eight consecutive semesters of enrollment. Full-time enrollment at AU required. Awards are limited in quantity. Total financial aid cannot exceed the cost of tuition, fees, room and board. See Academic Catalog for complete financial policies and award renewal criteria. Additionally, Institutional aid resources are limited and the University reserves the right to place a cap on the number of scholarships or grants offered or awarded at any time, or reduce or increase institutional aid at its discretion.
