About the Library

The Thrift Library, the culmination of the largest single-phase building project in Anderson University history, is expected to dramatically change the environment on campus with ample high-tech media and study rooms, attractive decor, computer labs, and an upscale cafe which will serve gourmet coffee, desserts and light meals throughout the day.

At approximately 53,000 square feet, Thrift Library is the largest one-phase construction project in the history of the University.  (Rainey Fine Arts Center is slightly larger, but was constructed in two phases.)  It features the following:

  • Bunton Computer Laboratory
  • McClellion Cafe
  • Chapman Multi-Media Center
  • Vandiver Gallery
  • Hopkins Special Collections Room (University Archives)
  • Anderson Independent Mail Curriculum Lab
  • Pracht Seminar Room
  • 10 Student Collaborative Study Rooms
  • Approximately 7,500 square feet of unfinished space for future expansion
  • Rainey Sculpture Fountain (to be installed in spring 2008 – a year from now)
  • Wireless Internet
