All gifts are accepted with the understanding that the library is free to use or dispose of all items as it sees fit.
New Books- You can place books in Honor or in Memory of a friend or loved one with the Library's Gift Book Program. Gifts are acknowledged with a donor plaque placed in the front of the book. See Gift Book Program form .
Used Books- Used books are inventoried upon arrival and either added to the collection or sold with the monies going to the book budget. Factors determining whether or not a book is added to the collection include their physical condition, relevancy to the collection, appropriateness to the institution's mission, currency, and whether or not the library already owns one or more copies, or a more current edition.
Donors are mailed a detailed list of their gift noting author and title.
Due to IRS rules, the library may not place a value upon gifts.
For obvious reasons the library will not accept books that smell or show indications of mold or insect damage.
Media- The library has a large and growing media collection. Factors determining whether or not a recording is added to the collection include their physical condition, whether or not they are in a dated format, relevancy to the collection, appropriateness to the institution's mission, the currency of its content, and whether or not the library already owns one or more copies, or a more current edition.
