In honor of the 20th anniversary of the Anderson Senior Follies, Anderson University hosted a reception on February 17. The Henderson Auditorium in the Rainey Fine Arts Center on the University’s campus has been the home of the Senior Follies since its beginnings in 1989, raising over $200,000 in capital improvements for the auditorium and the University’s arts programs over the past 20 years, according to Dean Woods, vice president for institutional advancement. Vice President Woods presented the donor plaque to Jim McElhannon, president of the Senior Follies, in honor of the Follies’ contribution to the University and the Anderson community.

Annette Cantrell Martin, director of Senior Follies, received a certificate of gratitude from Dr. Evans Whitaker, president of Anderson University. Mrs. Martin also received a framed graphic poster on behalf of the Senior Follies. The poster was designed by Mrs. Martin’s daughter, graphic designer Kirsten Epstein Dinkins, of Charleston, depicting highlights from each of the Senior Follies productions for the past 20 years. The poster will be on permanent display in the Rainey Fine Arts Center.

According to Dr. David Larson, dean of the College of Visual and Performing Arts, the Senior Follies is the most successful performing arts event in the Upstate of South Carolina. This year, over 8,000 people are expected to attend the 20th anniversary production, which will feature some of the top highlights from shows over the 20 years.
