Choral Masterworks Series Continues with Mozart’s Requiem
Anderson University Choir and Chamber Singers
The Anderson University College of Visual and Performing Arts will present Choral Masterworks: Mozart’s Requiem, the prodigy’s final masterpiece. The performance will be held in Henderson Auditorium on Sunday, March 29, 2009, at 4:00 p.m.
This upcoming installment of the Choral Masterworks Series will give Anderson audiences a unique opportunity to experience the Requiem Mass. From the majestic Rex Tremendae to the soulful Lacrymosa and the triumphant Sanctus, the Requiem provides a varied, yet vivid listening experience based on the traditional service for the dead.
Mozart’s composition will be performed by the Anderson University Choir and Chamber Singers, directed by Dr. Richard Williamson. Additionally, the concert will feature soloists AU professor Deedy Francis and AU alumna Rebecca Yates as well as Grant Lewis and David Parker.
The community is invited to hear this “powerful, yet affirming depiction of God’s justice and mercy,” says Dr. Williamson. Tickets are $5 for general admission and $3 for students. Call (864) 231-2080 for more information.
