Professor Receives 2009 SCICU Excellence in Teaching Award

Dr. Teresa Jones, assistant professor of English, was awarded a 2009 Excellence in Teaching Award from the South Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities (SCICU) organization at the annual awards banquet on April 21 in Columbia.
The award, which includes a $3,000 professional development grant, is given to one faculty member at each of the 20 SCICU colleges and universities. The grant awarded to Jones will be used to purchase software for managing the University’s Writing Center.
Dr. Jones joined the AU faculty in 2007. She completed a bachelor’s degree at Auburn University and a master’s degree and Ph.D in English from Georgia State University.
