Consecration Service Inaugurates AU Ministry School
Clamp Graduate School Begins with Special Service Led by Calvin Miller
Anderson University’s new David T. Clamp Graduate School of Christian Ministry kicked off Thursday, August 6 with a special Consecration Service at AU’s Daniel Recital Hall.
More than twenty students are enrolled for the opening term of the graduate program. The online phase includes students from throughout the Upstate, plus pastors from Indiana and Florida. Online classes began Monday, August 10; campus classes began Tuesday, August 11.
The Consecration Service featured special speaker Dr. Calvin Miller, academician and acclaimed author of over 30 books, including his most recent release, his long awaited autobiography entitled, Life is Mostly Edges. In addition, Dr. Miller is also among a group of more than a dozen Strategic Faculty, including well-known national church leaders, who will be part of the instructional program at the Clamp Graduate School.
At the service, Dr. Miller spoke of the significance of the program, saying, “One of the great needs in the church today is pastors and church leaders who are biblically grounded but also understand how to lead effectively. One of the reasons I am so supportive of the Master of Ministry at Anderson University is that it will provide the kind of practical training for church leadership that few, if any, schools are offering today."
The Clamp Graduate School's major program is the Master of Ministry degree, a 42-hour program which features both biblical-theological studies and a major component of practical ministry studies, including three courses in leadership.
Of the Consecration Service, Dr. Michael Duduit, dean of the Graduate School of Christian Ministry, said, “This Service of Consecration represents the launch of this strategic program for training a new generation of church leaders through the Clamp Graduate School of Christian Ministry. We have an outstanding group of students in the inaugural class of the Master of Ministry program, which represents a new and exciting approach to ministry education for the 21st century. I believe the seed that has been planted today will ultimately blossom in the lives of hundreds and thousands of ministers and churches which will serve the Kingdom until Jesus comes.”
