Record Anderson University Enrollment Shows 13.4% Gain
New freshman class easily breaks all-time record number
Official fall enrollment data released following the last day to drop or add classes at Anderson University reveal what AU officials suspected - that the university has shattered enrollment records across the board.
Anderson University’s enrollment FTE (full time equivalency) is up 13.4 percent over last year, and the total headcount at the University is close to 2,300 (2,280) eclipsing the record figure set last year of 2,064. 2008 was the first year the institution’s enrollment had surpassed the 2,000 mark.
Anderson University president Dr. Evans Whitaker says the enrollment numbers reflect that the message of quality and affordability is gaining increasing receptivity among students and their families.
“We are delighted that a record number of freshman and transfer students have chosen Anderson University as their college home,” the president said. “Beyond the statistical data, we are also pleased at the level of enthusiasm shown by both new and returning students. It is clear that our message of academic quality in a sincere Christian environment combined with our affordability is resonating with students as never before.”
A freshman class that exceeds 450 for the first time in the university’s history drove many of the gains shown by the data, but significant increases in student retention and transfers were also major factors.
The university’s six graduate program and the adult ACCEL evening program also set records in the fall of 2009 with the graduate program showing a 67.8 percent increase in enrollment.
