ANDERSON UNIVERSITY GRAPHIC DESIGN STUDENTS
TAKE TOP ADDY AWARDS
Anderson University graphic design students
swept the Upstate 2010 ADDY Awards, continuing their dominance of the
Greenville Ad Club “Student ADDY” competition. Since the introduction of the
student division of the “ADDYs,” AU students have consistently won the majority
of the awards given, however, this marks the first time AU has accomplished a
complete sweep.
At
the local competition, AU’s winners were as follows: AU Sophomore Jivan
Dave - Best In Show, Gold
Award; AU Senior Leigh Hill - Gold Award, Silver Award; AU
Senior Kat Carter – Gold Award, Silver Award; AU Senior Chris Waldrop – Silver
Award; AU Junior David Bishop – Silver Award.
In
addition, two AU graphic design students received top awards at the regional
Addy competition. The winners were selected from applicants from hundreds of
colleges and universities in a region ranging from Texas to Virginia. Jivan
Dave and Chris Waldrop both won Gold ADDYs and Kat Carter and Leigh Hill won
Silver ADDYs. Following his win at the regional level, Jivan Dave’s entry will
now advance to the national competition.
At
the regionals, AU’s winners were as follows: Jivan Dave - Gold Award; Chris
Waldrop – Gold Award; Kat Carter – Silver Award; Leigh Hill – Two Silver
Awards.
Dr.
Tim Speaker, assistant art professor at AU, stated that, “I am incredibly proud
of the continued success of our graphic design concentration. Through extreme
hard work and perseverance, our wonderful students have been able to once again
find success in the larger graphic design community. AU is becoming a truly
renowned art program on the national stage, a reputation built on the
accomplishments of our students.”
The ADDY Awards are
conducted each year by the American Advertising Federation to honor the most
excellent works in design and advertising across the U.S.
