Anderson University SIFE Team Wins at Regional Competition
Continuing
with the successes earned at last year’s regional and national competitions, the
Anderson University SIFE (Students in Free Enterprise) team was recently named
one of five regional champions for this year’s Sam’s Club Environmental
Sustainability Challenge. AU’s SIFE team was in competition with 48 other
entries, including 12 in their region. The recognition at the regional level
secures a place for AU’s team in the 2010 national competition, being held in
Bentonville, Arkansas on April 23. Last year, the first year of the
Sam’s Club challenge, Anderson University was the national winner, developing a
green initiative that was used by businesses throughout the nation and
prompting Sam’s to promote Anderson students as a key component in its
corporate environmental sustainability program.
The
goal of the challenge, sponsored by Sam’s Club, was to inspire environmentally
sustainable practices in the lives of Sam’s Club small business customers and
their businesses as well as within their customers and communities.
In
addition, the AU SIFE team was also selected as regional champions in the team
area, advancing them to the national competition in Minneapolis, Minnesota this
May.
Dr.
Bill Laing, one of the AU SIFE team’s faculty advisors and associate professor
of business at AU, stated, “The continued successes of the AU SIFE team on the
regional and national levels solidifies our standing as a nationally recognized
club. AU business students continually demonstrate that they are among the
‘best of the best.’”
