ANDERSON UNIVERSITY Graphic design
students win top national awards
AU art student also wins “Best in Show” in national ADDYs
Anderson University graphic design students
cemented the program’s status as one of the best in the nation recently by
winning three national ADDY Awards including “Best in Show,” signifying the top
student design among American universities.
The
victory on the national level follows a complete sweep of the regional awards
in South Carolina and multiple awards in the Eastern region of the U.S. On the
national level, Anderson University was one of only two U.S. universities to
claim as many as three awards.
AU
student Chris Waldrop was the top winner with a gold award and the coveted
“Best in Show” recognition. In addition, design student Kat Carter also won a
gold ADDY. The prestigious national ADDY Award Student Competition selects only
15 top designs for consideration from hundreds of entries throughout the
nation. For Anderson University to claim three awards is truly remarkable.
“The unprecedented amount
of success that has been bestowed upon the students in the Graphic Design
concentration over the past year is truly humbling, said graphic design
professor Tim Speaker, who teaches both winning students. “For AU to not only
be able to compete with the top art universities in the country, but to be able
to achieve such laudable awards at the national level is an extraordinary
blessing. I am extremely proud of our national, regional, and local award
winners this year. Each student was able to reach their potential through hard
work and dedication, and through the continued efforts of our dedicated
faculty. This is a victory for all of the members of the AU Art Department.”
This
marks the second year in a row that AU has been among the very few universities
to win multiple awards at the national level and the first that an Anderson
student has been named “Best in Show.”
