AU PLAYHOUSE TO PRESENT THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE
2010-2011 theatre season begins with blockbuster musical
The Playhouse at Anderson University will
begin its new theatre season with Thoroughly
Modern Millie, a high-spirited musical set in 1920s New York City. The
production will be presented in the Henderson Auditorium in AU’s Rainey Fine
Arts Center on October 21-23 at 7:30 pm. The Anderson community is invited to
enjoy this delightful song-and-dance production, based on the Tony
Award-Winning musical and the Academy Award-Winning film.
Thoroughly Modern Millie tells the story of Millie Dillmount, the
lovable small-town girl who travels to New York City and encounters a series of
comical adventures. Dr. David Larson, Dean of AU’s College of Visual and
Performing Arts, says, “Millie will
be hugely entertaining. The production was a smash hit on Broadway eight years
ago. This show is the definition of a musical theatre blockbuster, vibrant, fun
and very tuneful. The tap dancing alone is amazing. Don’t miss Thoroughly
Modern Millie.”
All are invited to attend the
production. General admission is $15, tickets for seniors and military are $10,
and student tickets are $5. For more
information, contact the Anderson University Playhouse at (864) 231-2080.
