Rashed Named AU's Vice President for Enrollment Services
After a nine-month national search, Omar Rashed has been named vice president for enrollment services at Anderson University. He will assume duties in mid-July 2008.Rashed comes to Anderson from Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida, where he has served seven years as director of admissions and two years as executive director of enrollment management. At Southeastern, Rashed led a massive growth effort that tripled enrollment from 1,000 in the fall of 1999 to 3,069 presently. In addition, he led a successful effort to significantly increase the entrance test scores and grade point averages of entering students. Prior to his service at Southeastern, Rashed was an admissions counselor at both Evangel University and Wheaton College.
In making the announcement, Dr. Evans Whitaker, president of Anderson University said, “We are thrilled to welcome someone as gifted and accomplished as Omar Rashed to lead our enrollment team. He brings a seasoned and creative perspective to our institution and he will no doubt provide us with excellent leadership as we continue to serve increasing numbers of students.”
Anderson University’s enrollment has grown steadily for over a decade. Last fall, it reached a high of 1,901 students enrolled in traditional, evening, and graduate programs. The University has increasingly been lauded for its high quality academic programs and picturesque campus. It offers degrees in almost 50 areas of study and fields 18 NCAA Division II athletic teams. Anderson ranks in the Top Tier of baccalaureate colleges in the South according to U. S. News & World Report’s 2008 edition of “America’s Best Colleges.” It is also ranked one of “America’s 100 Best College Buys” and one of “America’s Best Christian Colleges.”
At Anderson, Rashed will provide executive leadership to the Offices of Admissions, Student Financial Aid, Student Financial Services, Anderson Central, and Minority Admissions. Within the parameters of the University’s strategic plan, he will lead the development of enrollment growth and marketing strategies for all academic programs.
Mr. Rashed earned a master of arts degree in corporate communication and technology from Rollins College, Winter Park, Fla. and a bachelor of science degree in business from Evangel University, Springfield, Mo. He is a member and vice president of the North American Coalition for Christian Admission Professionals. He also maintains membership in the National Association of Graduate Admissions Professionals, and the National Association for College Admission Counseling.
He and his wife, Sheryl, have two children, Noah and Nathan. They will make their home in Anderson.
