Anderson University Centennial Founders Day Feb. 9
Convocation to feature Anderson and University commemoration
Year
long activities celebrating Anderson University’s centennial will reach a
crescendo on February 9th during the annual Founders Day Convocation on campus
at 10am in Henderson Auditorium in the Rainey Fine Arts Center.
Founders Day is a pivotal day every year on the Anderson campus, but is more
special this year as the university marks its 100th birthday with music,
special presentations and well wishes from business and community leaders from
Anderson, including Mayor Terrence Roberts, Dr. James Thomason, pastor of First
Baptist Church of Anderson, and a representative from the South Carolina Baptist
Convention with which Anderson University is affiliated. Living relatives of
founders and key historical figures in the life of the university will also be
present.
The convocation will also feature the presentation of a new pictorial history
of Anderson University newly published by Arcadia Publishing as part of its
Campus History Series and compiled by Joyce Wood, AU’s historian. Following the
convocation, copies of the book will be available for purchase through area
bookstores, the Anderson University Alumni Office, and the Anderson University
