Best-selling Author to Visit Anderson University
The Secret Life of Bees author Sue Monk Kidd visits in Centennial event
Anderson University, as a part of the
centennial celebration of its founding, is presenting, in cooperation with the
Anderson County Library, a series of events beginning in the month of March
which focus on The Secret Life of Bees, Sue Monk Kidd’s bestselling
novel about race, gender, folklore, religion, and ethics in South Carolina in
the 1960’s. AU professors will lead a discussion on the novel at the Library on
March 27, 2011, as well as at
several book clubs, both on and off campus, during the preceding weeks. Ms.
Kidd, who began her writing career at Anderson University, will give a public
lecture at the University at 7PM on March
29, 2011. The series will conclude with a showing of the film, The
Secret Life of Bees, followed by a discussion led by an AU professor at the
Library on April 3, 2011. This
series has been supported by a major grant from the Humanities Council of South
Carolina.
