Anderson University to Host 5k Run Benefiting the AU Cancer Research Center
On Saturday, March 26, Anderson University will
hold its first annual “Race for Gold” 5k run at 8:00 am. Dr. Pamela Peeke,
well-know physician and health advocate and author of Fit to Live, will be present to start the run/walk race and Dr.
Doster, from AnMed Health, will be the race-day speaker.
Participants
in the race will convene at the Anderson County Courthouse Plaza and race through
downtown Anderson and back to the Courthouse Plaza for the finale. At the
conclusion, a special presentation will be held honoring those who have battled
cancer or those who may have lost loved ones to cancer.
Proceeds
from the race will directly support AU’s Cancer Research Center, where
undergraduate students are given the unique opportunity to engage in various
scientific research programs focused on cancer. Support through fundraising
initiatives such as the “Race for Gold” will help continue the Cancer Center’s
efforts of finding a cure and new treatments for cancer.
