SC Baptist Pastors Will Keynote National Conference on
Preaching
Pastors of three leading Upstate churches
will fill key speaking roles at the twentieth annual National Conference on
Preaching, May 9-11 at First Baptist Church in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The
conference is sponsored by Preaching
magazine and Anderson University’s College of Christian Studies, and the
conference theme is “Preaching the Power of the Cross.”
Among
the speakers at NCP 2011 will be Don Wilton, Senior Pastor of the host church;
Mike Hamlet, Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church, North Spartanburg; and Paul
Jimenez, who recently was called as Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church in
Taylors, SC.
“We
are so excited to have these key SC Baptist leaders share their gifts at this
year’s National Conference on Preaching,” said Michael Duduit, dean of the
College of Christian Studies and founder and executive editor of Preaching Magazine. "This is the first
time this national event has ever been held in South Carolina, and we are
anxious to have many SC Baptist pastors take advantage of this opportunity.”
In
addition to the three Upstate pastors, speakers for the conference will include
James Emery White, Mecklenburg
Community Church in Charlotte, NC; Ralph
Douglas West, The Church Without Walls in Houston, TX; Tullian Tchividjian, Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church in Fort
Lauderdale, FL; Robert Smith, Beeson
Divinity School in Birmingham, AL; Rob
Wilton, Vintage Church in New Orleans, LA; Will Graham, Billy Graham Evangelistic Association; Mike Milton, Reformed Theological
Seminary in Charlotte, NC; and Bryan
Carter, Concord Missionary Baptist Church in Dallas, TX.
Several
Anderson University faculty will also be speaking or leading workshops,
including Duduit, Kristopher Barnett (Associate Dean of the Clamp Graduate
School of Christian Ministry), and Charles Fuller (Assistant Professor of
Christian Studies).
In
addition to theme-related talks and sermons, more than a dozen workshops will
also be offered on a variety of preaching-related topics. A simultaneous series
of sessions for ministry wives will be held, led by Karyn Wilton and a team of
leaders.
Registration
is $195 for pastors and leaders from SC Baptist churches, and $100 for spouses
and additional participants from the same church. Full time seminary and
college students may register for $75. There are also special discounts for
