AU PROFESSOR WINS EXCELLENCE IN TEACHING AWARD
Anderson University’s Assistant Professor
of Christian Studies, Dr. Bryan H. Cribb, has been honored with the 2011 SCICU
Excellence in Teaching Award. Each year SCICU (South Carolina Independent
Colleges and Universities) recognizes and celebrates the best of the best with
its Excellence in Teaching Awards.
A
member of the faculty from each of twenty private institutions of higher
learning in South Carolina is nominated for the award according to rigorous
guidelines. The most important characteristic of the nominees
is their demonstration of the highest standards in teaching methods that
encourage students to strive for excellence in their studies and pursuits. The award recipients are honored at a
special awards dinner and awarded a $3000 professional development grant.
The
SCICU represents twenty independent colleges and universities each with a
unique historical, cultural, and in many instances, faith background. The
mission of SCICU is to support and promote the values of independent higher
education in South Carolina. SCICU seeks to advance higher education through
fundraising, scholarships, research, and by facilitating collaborative
activities among the member institutions. The organization also promotes a
positive public image and encourages government policies that support
independent higher education.
Of
the honor, Dr. Cribb stated, “I am humbled and challenged by
this award. And I feel privileged to be at an institution like Anderson
University that models the teaching excellence and Christian higher education.
I view the SCICU grant awarded as a stewardship, and I look forward to using it
towards implementing new and innovative methods and technology in the
classroom.”
