Anderson University will soon begin accepting applications for the Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) program, the University’s first doctoral program. This step is in response to the decision by The Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS-COC) to grant Anderson University status as a “Level V” institution, opening the door to doctoral programs at AU. SACS is the regional accrediting body for colleges and universities in the South.

The Doctor of Ministry is a professional doctoral degree focused primarily on the practice of ministry. The D.Min. program at Anderson University will be delivered through a hybrid approach, involving independent and online study, three week-long seminars on site, three event-based seminars, and development and implementation of a significant ministry project and subsequent dissertation.

“The D.Min. at Anderson University will have a focus on biblical preaching,” explains Dr. Michael Duduit, Dean of the College of Christian Studies. “Our goal will be to help pastors and other church leaders enhance their preaching and communication efforts to become even more effective as proclaimers of biblical truth.”

Students will participate in three one-week summer seminars over a three-year period; two of those will be on the Anderson University campus, and one will be in another city, drawing on leaders and resources in that area. Students will also participate in three seminars linked to one of two events sponsored by AU’s College of Christian Studies: the John A. Broadus Lectures on Preaching in January or the National Conference on Preaching in May.

Applications for the program will be accepted beginning July 1. A limit of 15 D.Min. students per year will be accepted, in order to provide maximum support for each participating student. For information contact the College of Christian Studies at (864) 328-1809, or visit
