AU Professor
Named 2011 Educator of the Year
Anderson
University’s Associate Professor of Interior Design and Dean of the School of
Interior Design, Ms. Anne Martin, has been honored as this years Educator of the
Year by the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID). Martin received the
award at the recent Carolinas (SC, NC) ASID fall conference held in Asheville,
NC at the Grand Bohemian Hotel.
Nominations for the honor
include not only peer review by practicing interior design professionals and
educators, but also a significant number of recommendations from current
students of the School of Interior Design at AU. Additionally, graduates of the
program and those practicing professional design work take part in the
nomination process.
Criteria for nominations
include creative and intellectual contributions to design education through
teaching, research, administration, or writing. Nominees must demonstrate a
lasting impact and inspiration to colleagues, students, or audience.
Commenting on her
selection, Martin says, “"It
is a tremendous honor to receive such a prestigious award from the Carolinas
American Society of Interior Design chapter. Having been chosen by colleagues
and professionals is very meaningful, but to have been selected as well by
current students and graduates from our program at Anderson is especially
rewarding.”
