AU Professor Named 2011 Educator of the Year

Anderson University’s Associate Professor of Interior Design and Dean of the School of Interior Design, Ms. Anne Martin, has been honored as this years Educator of the Year by the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID). Martin received the award at the recent Carolinas (SC, NC) ASID fall conference held in Asheville, NC at the Grand Bohemian Hotel.

Nominations for the honor include not only peer review by practicing interior design professionals and educators, but also a significant number of recommendations from current students of the School of Interior Design at AU. Additionally, graduates of the program and those practicing professional design work take part in the nomination process.

Criteria for nominations include creative and intellectual contributions to design education through teaching, research, administration, or writing. Nominees must demonstrate a lasting impact and inspiration to colleagues, students, or audience.

Commenting on her selection, Martin says, “"It is a tremendous honor to receive such a prestigious award from the Carolinas American Society of Interior Design chapter. Having been chosen by colleagues and professionals is very meaningful, but to have been selected as well by current students and graduates from our program at Anderson is especially rewarding.”
