Housing & Student Life
Housing - Housing for students in the CGE Anderson University Sydney program will be in a modern apartment complex in suite style arrangements, located no more than 40-minute commute to the CAPA Sydney Center. Each fully furnished suite contains two bedrooms, each shared by two students; built-in wardrobes; a fully equipped modern kitchen; a washer and dryer; wide screen TV with CD and DVD players; and full housekeeping service. Students will receive a meal stipend of 46 AUD per week.
Housing information and assignments will be sent to participants 14 days prior to the start of the program.
Student Life - Students participating in the CGE Anderson University Sydney program are encouraged to participate in all CAPA activities and programs. The My Education (ME) program in Sydney offers you the opportunity and independence to decide how to learn about culture according to how you enjoy learning. Compiled by local education abroad advisors, a calendar will offer a menu of different activities, lectures, visits, and self-directed tours to help teach you about Australia. These are often different to standard tourist sights, and by participating you will be able to reflect on how real Sydneysiders live and think! Each week, one item will be picked as a ME event, and information will be given on this event with handouts on the My Education board outside of the CAPA office.
In addition, there will be opportunities for faith based and community service activities organized and facilitated by the resident CGE faculty member in Sydney. Activities will include working with Southern Baptist International Missions Board missionaries in the Sydney area, local churches of the New South Wales Baptist Union, City Care – the community arm of Hillsong Church, and volunteer community action opportunities that are part of the MyEducation program. These activities, as with the ME activities, are voluntary and participation will not impact grades or academic course outcomes.
