Internships in Sydney are available in nearly any field that you can imagine! It all depends on your interests, experience, and skill level. From placements in travel and adventure magazines that have taken interns to the far reaches of the country, to competitive accounting firms, and health care organizations that offer exposure to state of the art research, our Interns in Sydney have truly done it all.
The local CAPA staff visit each internship site, many of which are frequent recipients of CAPA interns. Students are placed in sites that best meet their individual interests, abilities and academic background. All internship placements are contingent upon a successful interview with the internship-host organization, which will take place right after the student’s arrival and orientation.
Internship students will also participate in a seminar series entitled “Perspectives on Experiential Learning Abroad.” Faculty act as internship mentors to ensure that participants have academic guidance during their internships. Students produce papers, write reflective journals, and make oral presentations examining the real learning that occurs during their programs. Students produce a portfolio at the end of the internship that must meet clear academic criteria in order for the student to attain credit for the internship.
Students must be at least first semester juniors in order to apply for an internship.
“My internship at Lizard Children’s Centre was incredible. I would definitely go back again, and I would recommend it to anyone who had similar interests as me. The women that I worked with were wonderful; always willing to help me out, educate me and make sure I was enjoying my time.”
-CAPA Student Intern, Augustana College
“I absolutely loved my internship placement. I learned an immense amount and they were always willing to answer my questions and allow me to experience each section of HR. I liked the smallness of the HR Department because I was able to focus on certain areas, whereas if I was placed in a large Department I don’t think I would have been able to do this.”
-CAPA Student, SUNY Oswego
“Care Pharmaceuticals was a great work environment and they enabled me to learn a lot while receiving hands on experience. I really enjoyed my time there!”
