AU Abroad Course – Scotland and England

Course Information: 3 credits – General Elective
Lead Faculty: Dr. Tim McKnight, Assistant Professor of Christian Studies and Dr. Michael Duduit, Dean of the College of Christian Studies
Course Title: IS 398 – Reformation and Revival: A Journey through the Reformation and Revival in Great Britain.
Course Description: This course examines the history of the English and Scottish Reformations and the Great Revival that occurred during the 18th century to Great Britain. Students will learn about the key figures in the Reformation and Great Revival as well as visit sites in England and Scotland that pertain to events and individuals related to the Reformation and Revival. Finally, students will observe the decline that has occurred in England and Scotland since the era of the Reformation and Great Revival and determine any parallels between that decline and the decline of Christianity in the United States since the First and Second Great Awakenings.
Travel Dates: TBA (Spring break – March)
Housing/Accommodations: Local hotels and hostels
General Travel Itinerary: Trip to sites in and around London and Scotland related to the Reformation and Great Revival.
Eligibility Requirements: Students must be eligible juniors or seniors (at least a 2.5 gpa) and who have not attended a previous AU Abroad program.
Scholarship: Scholarship is towards reduction of cost for travel, which is an additional fee from tuition, and fees, which are charged as part of student's registration for program. Scholarship up to $1,000.00 given to all who apply. Scholarship amount depends upon GPA, class standing and financial need.
