Course Information: 3 credits – General Elective

Course Title: England – Shakespeare's World: The Royal Shakespeare Company, Stratford and London Theatre
Course Description: Students will learn historical and cultural influences of Shakespeare's life and works. They will review and evaluate his works to prepare for visits to The Globe and Royal Shakespeare Company. During the travel component, students will attend plays and/or musicals in London and Stratford. The historical importance of Shakespeare and his works will be analyzed and discussed. The history of England, Shakespeare and how it affected American culture, government and politics is also explored.
Travel Dates: TBA – December break
Housing/Accommodations: Hotel accommodations in London.
General Travel Itinerary: Visits to The Globe and Royal Shakespeare Company. Additional sites that impacted the life and of Shakespeare will be also be visited. Trips to historical sites in London are also planned.
Eligibility Requirements: Students must be eligible juniors or seniors (at least a 2.5 gpa) and who have not attended a previous AU Abroad program.
Scholarship: Scholarships are awarded to reduce the cost for travel, which is an additional fee from tuition and fees and charged as part of student's registration for program. Scholarships of up to $1,000.00 are given to all who apply. Scholarship amount depends upon GPA, class standing and financial need.
