The Concert Choir in The South Carolina School of the Arts is a select ensemble of about 45 members. Many are music majors and most are upperclassmen, but the group is open to any qualified student regardless of major or class. Concert Choir focuses on artistic choral literature and also performs in the university’s seasonal and pops shows. In the annual Choral Masterworks Concert, the group presents major choral works with orchestra. Past presentations include Beethoven's Choral Fantasy, Handel's Messiah, Mozart's Requiem, and Haydn's The Creation. Concert Choir also combines with the University Choir to perform for important campus events.
Concert Choir tours regionally each year, and members have periodic opportunities for national and international performance. The group has been featured at conventions of the South Carolina Music Educators Association and the South Carolina chapter of the American Choral Directors Association. Concert Choir was recently engaged to make a demonstration recording for Alfred Music Publishing.
