This summer we are launching Base Camp Extreme (BCE), an exciting part of the new student orientation program at Anderson. The Base Camp Extreme program is a four day, three night optional outdoor adventure camp for incoming new students at Anderson. The purpose of the program will be to further assist new students in their transition to Anderson by offering an unique outdoor experience which encourages students to make new friends while reflecting on who God has created them to be and what their legacy will be at Anderson.
Who: Any new student coming to Anderson in Fall 2014, but space is limited to the first 25 students.
When: July 15th-19th, 2014
Where: We will be meeting on campus then traveling to Tennessee where we will camp near the Ocoee River. Exact camping location will be announced later!
What: We will spend four days and three nights camping in the mountains of Tennessee and will have opportunities for high ropes, white water rafting, hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, paint ball and potentially zip lining.
Cost: The cost for students is $275 which covers the cost for all meals, transportation and adventure elements. A $75 deposit is due at the time of registration. The deposit is refundable through June 23rd by 4:30 p.m. However, if you cancel after that time you will forfeit the deposit. The remaining balance ($200) can be paid via check, cash or credit card before arrival or via cash or check at summer orientation or at the time of Base Camp Extreme departure.

We will post more information regarding the schedule of events and arrival/departure times by June 1st.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q. I am from out of state and wish to attend Base Camp Extreme but can only make one trip. What do I do?
A. Unfortunately, we do not have a Base Camp Summer Orientation that is scheduled around Base Camp Extreme. Base Camp Summer Orientation will provide a time for you and your family members to meet with your Academic Dean, print your schedule, learn about life on campus and meet other students. If you choose to attend Base Camp Extreme rather than summer orientation, we may be able to arrange a one on one meeting with an academic advisor in your field of study to answer those questions. If you wish to do that, please contact us at email@example.com by June 25th.
Q. What should I bring?
A. We will send out a confirmation email with a final packing list closer to our departure date. However, you should plan on bringing comfortable clothing appropriate for outdoor adventure pursuits, a sleeping bag & pillow, toiletries, a modest swimsuit or wet suit for rafting, a pair of shoes for hiking and one you don't mind wearing to raft, and a Bible. If you have a tent or other camping equipment that you can bring, send us an email and let us know; we might take you up on the offer! You should plan to leave your cell phone, computer or other technological equipment behind.
Q. Where will we be staying?
A. We are still making these arrangements but we will be tent camping near Copper Hill, TN. We will be rafting the Ocoee River, the site of the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games!
Q. Can I bring my cell phone? How can my family reach me?
A. Because we will be camping in the mountians your cell phone most likely will not have reception nor will you be able to charge it. Additionally, BCE is a retreat environment and cell phones could distract from the full experience. We ask that you make plans to leave all technology behind. We will send out emergency contact information in the final conformation email that you should plan to share with your family. Prior participants in the trip relished the time away from the distractions of texting and social media, so trust us that it is worth it!
