Mother Courage and Her Children
by Bertolt Brecht April 10-12, 2013 | 7:30 pm April 13, 2013 | 2:00 pm and 7:30 pm Belk Theatre
Some have argued that Mother Courage and Her Children by Bertolt Brecht is the greatest play of the twentieth century; but despite this, it is not often performed for contemporary American audiences. Brecht wrote the play as a protest to the rise of Fascism and Nazism and the profit based motive of many conflicts. The play follows the adventures of Mother Courage, an old peddler who seeks to profit from the war despite the dangers that it brings to her children. Come prepared for a new and exciting experience as we combine modern technology with an age-old story to engage a tech-savvy audience. Haunting updates to the original score will keep you fascinated. iPads and cell phones welcome!
