Raku – a Traditional Japanese Kiln Firing Process
Join us for an interactive and informative workshop on Raku kiln firing! Led by ceramic professors, Chostani Dean, participating students will glaze a bisque-fired readymade ceramic vessel. There will be a tour of the ceramic studio, a presentation about Raku kiln firing, glaze chemistry, and a demonstration of glaze application. Each student will glaze a small vessel form for the firing, place their vessel into the kiln and witness the lighting of the kiln. Students will be able to take their pieces home with them!
This special workshop will be held on January 30, 2015
Scholarship competitions are for High School Seniors only.
