Founding editor of Preaching magazine and founding director of the National Conference on Preaching. Listed in Who’s Who in America and Who’s Who in Religion. Was President of the Baptist Communicators Association.

Has lived in more than a dozen places, from a farm in north central Illinois to Daytona Beach, Fla., as well as Alabama, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. Has served as a pastor, associate pastor and youth minister. Has also worked on the administrative side of Christian higher education (news director, director of communications, director of development, etc.).
