The Junior Experience spans the central themes of the preparation of our teacher candidates. It includes growth through academic, social, physical, cultural, and spiritual opportunities. It is required early in the fall semester of the junior year. This year’s Junior Experience will be September 19-22, 2019, at St. Christopher Conference Center, Charleston, S.C.
Seminars include the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, Diversity, Advocacy, and Cultural seminars based on the area, such as seining and area reptiles. In addition, each day begins and ends with a devotion/vespers led by junior Teaching Fellow volunteers. A trip through Charleston with local food, a visit to the Market, and a carriage ride that provides a history lesson of Charleston is principal.
Leadership is a major emphasis for the Junior Experience. Teams of junior Teaching Fellows collaborate with an advisor to prepare seminars on the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. Each seminar includes information about each habit, examples, and “practice” opportunities.
