Why teach at AU?

I teach at AU because I love to educate, and I find it very rewarding to work with students that appreciate a quality education in a Christian environment. It is so refreshing to be surrounded by Christ-minded co-workers and students.

Hobbies

Cooking, Zumba, reading, dogs, and World War II movies/shows.

was a former business major and market analyst, working in the electric generation field. Also that our family hosted a foreign exchange high school student from Brazil who is now back in the States, attending college and part of our family.

What do you find most enjoyable about working at Anderson University?

I enjoy the fact that AU is in an expansion period. You can see the campus growing with newly constructed buildings and a growing student population. Working at AU, I love being able to express my Christianity and teach with the knowledge that God is always in charge. To be able to teach students that we are servants and to show the caring attitude that Christ lived is so important, especially in the nursing field.

What I wish prospectives students knew about my discipline or careers in my discipline.

The nursing field offers so many possibilities. There is not only one path of development for nurses. You can work with direct patient care in the hospitals, offices, homes, communities, etc. You can do research, teach, manage staff, plan care for populations, etc. There are so many areas available for the nurse to expand her career. However, to complete the nursing program you need to be disciplined, organized and be able to critically think while showing compassion and a caring attitude.

How would you describe your classes to someone who has never attended one?

I am all about learning opportunities for students. If I see an area where they can learn something new, small or large, I will try to provide that for them. I know students are sometimes nervous about new experiences. I do my best to put students at ease and encourage any questions they have, to be addressed. This is the opportunity for them to learn and see as much as they can before they are in the workplace.
