What classes do you teach at Anderson

Foundations I & II; Intermediate and Advanced Painting and Drawing

What year did you start teaching at AU

2011

Why teach at AU?

Anderson University is a community in the fullest sense of the word. On our campus you will find a true liberal arts experience; of breadth and inquiry, fraught with challenges and rewards, and with faculty dedicated to supporting students and the development of knowledge.

Hobbies

Running, reading, playing drums, board games and creative projects with my family, and cooking.

Notable achievements outside of discipline

I was a co-founder and exhibitions director of the ThreeCitiesGroup artist collective. The group was responsible for multiple exhibitions, performances, and workshops across the Southeast. I was also a drummer in several bands, and still consider music a vital influence on my artistic practice!

People might be interested to know I...

Have exhibited in over seventy-five national and international exhibitions. I'm also on board of FATE (Foundations in Art: Theory and Education) where I serve as editor of FATE in Review, an academic journal focused on arts education and visual culture.

Places you've lived

All over the Southeast.

What do you find most enjoyable about working at Anderson University?

My students and colleagues. Our department is comprised of an astounding group of artist educators that I am fortunate to collaborate with. I also get to work with students from Foundations to Seniors, which is a remarkable transition!

What I wish prospectives students knew about my discipline or careers in my discipline.

The visual arts is an incredibly diverse field that extends beyond traditional modes and requires flexible thinking and actions.

How would you describe your classes to someone who has never attended one?

Energetic, fun, and challenging.
